The most popular version, the short shaft manual start model weighs in at only 83 lbs. A portable 12 litre (2 1/2 gallon) fuel tank with hose is included. Long shaft models are also in stock for deeper fishing boats with a 20" high transom or as an auxillary outboard on mid sized fishing boats.

Mercury's unique mid-section features an industry exclusive ratcheting trim mechanism that allows boaters to safely and conveniently sneak into shallow water by by gradually tilting their outboard up manually in precise increments one "click" at a time. These outboards also boast a convenient "twist grip shift" feature. The forward-neutral-reverse shifting is acomplished with one hand with the simple twist of the throttle grip.
