The light weight single cylinder Mercury 6 hp outboard is a popular choice for for small aluminum boats and inflatables. Weighing only 57 lbs, this is our highest horse power outboard that can conveniently be caried from the trunk of the car to the dock with ease. A built in fuel tank means you don't need to make a second trip back to the car for a fuel tank. If more range is required this model can also be used with an accessory external fuel tank as well.

Just because it's compact and portable don't think that Mercury chose to skrimp on features. The 6 hp Merc includes a twist grip throttle and a full forward/neutral/reverse gear shift like larger outboards. These features offer convenience as well as familiarity to young boaters who are just "learning the ropes" and will soon graduate to higher horsepower outboards.

The long shaft variant of the Mercury 6 hp is also a popular choice as a "kicker" on mid sized 16' aluminum fishing boats. We typically have the 6 hp long shaft model in stock as well as the more popular short shaft version.
